Building Cyber Resilience in Industry 4.0: Introducing the CyberSec4OT Project
WWe are proud to introduce CyberSec4OT, a project co-funded by the European Union, aimed at boosting cybersecurity resilience in Industry 4.0 by equipping professionals with essential skills in operational technology (OT) security.
What is the CyberSec4OT Project?
Operational Technology (OT) refers to systems that control machinery and industrial processes in sectors such as energy, manufacturing, and transportation. Historically, OT systems were isolated from the internet. However, with the rise of Industry 4.0, they are becoming increasingly connected — and thus more vulnerable to cyberattacks.
At the same time, there is a significant shortage of professionals trained in OT cybersecurity. The CyberSec4OT project addresses this challenge by providing both technical and non-technical individuals with specialized OT cybersecurity training. The project aims to upskill 300 participants and award international certifications to 70 of them through a combination of online courses and hands-on learning.
Project Partners
CyberSec4OT brings together a diverse consortium of experts:
- Unicis 🇪🇪
- Sabancı University 🇹🇷
- Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye – Digital Transformation Office 🇹🇷
- ANKON Consulting 🇹🇷
- Arçelik 🇹🇷
- Brisa 🇹🇷
- EDIH Trakia 🇧🇬
- DNV 🇳🇴
- Politécnica 🇪🇸
- National Technical University of Athens 🇬🇷
Your input is vital to this pan-European research aiming to enhance cybersecurity across Industrial and Operational Technology environments - Cybersecurity for Industry 4.0 in OT.
CyberSec4OT Work Packages
The project is structured around seven key work packages:
- WP1 - Project Management and Coordination
- WP2 - Needs Assessment and Stakeholder Engagement
- WP3 - Modular Program Design and Curriculum Development
- WP4 - Training Programme Implementation
- WP5 - Workshop Series on Cybersecurity Challenges
- WP6 - Evaluation of Learning Impact and Certification
- WP7 - Communication and Dissemination
Project Goals
CyberSec4OT aims to strengthen Europe's cybersecurity workforce by training 300 individuals in OT cybersecurity through a mix of online and in-person programs. It will also provide 150 participants with hands-on experience and certify 70 with internationally recognized credentials. In doing so, the project directly supports the EU’s Cybersecurity Skills Academy and addresses the growing OT cybersecurity skills gap in Europe.
Supporting Europe's Digital Decade 2030 Goals
To ensure meaningful impact and alignment with the EU’s Digital Decade 2030 goals, CyberSec4OT involves a broad range of stakeholders — including educators, policymakers, industry leaders, and technical experts. By the project’s end, it aims to have trained over 300 professionals, reached more than 5,000 stakeholders through outreach and dissemination, and contributed significantly to building a digitally skilled and cyber-resilient industrial workforce across Europe.
